Wolverine's Den
The Tiny Mites had another great season under Head
Coach Ross O’Toole. They fought hard all year and finished the season with a
big win over Chicopee in the Tiny Mite Bowl game. This team is the future of
our program and I really like what I saw in them.
The Mitey Mite 2 team showed improvement every week under Head Coach Curt
French. The hard work they put in during practice was obvious on the field
on game day. This team never gave up and played hard until the final
whistle. I look forward to big things from this group in the near future.
The Mitey Mite 1 team had a stellar season under Head Coach Mike Davini.
They ended the year with a big shut out victory over Oakmont in the Bracani
Bowl. They were dominant all year and should be able to go deep into the
playoffs next season when they move up to the Jr Pee Wee level.
The Jr Pee Wee 2 team was a force all year under Dwayne Pelkey. They are
poised to make a Super Bowl run next season with an abundance of talent as
they move up to the Jr Pee Wee 1 level next season. It should be an exciting
year for them.
The Jr Pee Wee 1 team went down to the final week of the season to determine
the conference winner under Head Coach Chris Casavant. No one showed more
heart than this team as they tore through their schedule. They doubled their
win total from the previous season and showed they could compete with anyone
in this league.
The Pee Wee team won 9 games in a row under Head Coach Andy Dupuis. They
made it to the Central MA Championship game and nearly knocked off perennial
power Chicopee. They won the New England Super Bowl by default as Tri
Valley, CT forfeited and they were unsuccessful locating another opponent.
This group was 20 – 3 over the last 2 seasons and helped put WPW on the map.
The Jr Midget team under Head Coach Bob Polcari was one of the hardest
working teams I have seen. Their hard work made up for what they lacked in
size and speed. They were in position to win at the end of every game this
year. They lost a few heart breaking games but clearly showed they could
play with anyone in the league.
Thanks to all the coaches for their efforts this season. Football is a big
commitment and we would not be as successful as we were without each of you.
Thanks to all the players and parents for making it through the season.
Football is a tough sport and you should be proud that you completed the
entire season. A lot of work goes on behind the scenes to make this program
work so I would like to say thanks to everyone that volunteered in some way
this season. We rely on volunteers so the kids can play and cheer each week.
Everyone involved with WPW is a volunteer. I look forward to seeing everyone
at Awards Night and hopefully you will sign up for next year’s football
clinic, hosted by Coach Andy Dupuis.
We honestly could not have imagined the program would grow this big and be
this successful so quickly. It goes to show you that there are a lot of
talented kids in this area and a lot of dedicated coaches and parents.
Sincerely,
Gary Botko
